Windows 7 more malware-resistant than XP?

For those who love Windows 7 this will make you even happier. W7 is apparently more malware-resistant (is that a real term?) than XP or Vista.
Microsoft’s latest Security Report confirms that W7 has an infection rate of 3.8 per thousand systems for the 32-bit version and even less – 2.5 per thousand – for the 64-bit version. For comparison, XP was nearly 16 infections per thousand systems and Vista actually managed to halve the XP rate – 7.5 infections. Those with insomnia might like to know that the report runs to 90 pages.
This is partly to do with the Kernel protection offered by W7 and partly to do with users becoming a bit smarter.
Java is apparently the most exploited – so it pays to keep your Java up to date.
If ever there was a reason to upgrade to W7 then surely this is it?
