Gmail service in China hijacked by hackers

Gmail service in China apparently has been hijacked by hackers, who apparently are redirecting users to a fake log-in page in order to loot the e-mail credentials. A report on the same issue highlights that Gmail users of China have ever since complaining that when they access the website, they are automatically redirected to a fake Gmail page.

This occurs when one tries to enter the accounts via the Google Toolbar or visit 'www. gmail. com' directly.

The firm behind the report Fast Company, reported a Google representative quoting: “As always, users should be careful about where they share their personal information, and should avoid clicking through warnings about suspicious sites. We encourage Gmail users to visit https://mail. google. com directly.”

Fast Company claims that there might be an evil reason behind the Gmail phishing attack, thus creating an environment of mistrust in Google services, in order to make abandon the popularity amongst Chinese Internet users.
