Safe Surfing With McAfee Site Advisor

In our daily blogging and web routine, we come across a lot of web sites. Some are friendly and trustworthy, while the others are lurking there with their traps to corner you down and infect your PC with malice. In a hostile environment like this, it will be pretty much useful if someone pre-warns whether a site can be trusted or not, and ensures safe sailing. That’s what McAfee site advisor does. A guiding light to help you from falling into adroit traps by today’s web criminality and ID theft.
McAfee site advisor comes along for free when you purchase McAfee Internet security suite. But no need to worry, it is also there for free, and once you subscribe and install, you’re good to go. If you don’t prefer to get the complete security suite, relax, site advisor alone can be downloaded here.
Though it must be said that there are some compatibility issues. Out of 3 browsers that I use, the add on didn’t work on my favorite Google Chrome. So it indeed is a major bummer for me. McAfee site advisor works as an add on to your web browser. So lets see how it works..
It comes in as a small button in the bottom right of your browsing screen. Once you move your mouse pointer over it, it displays stats of the web site. A gray icon with a question mark indicates that the site hasn’t been tested yet.

A green light means you’re all okay with the site you’re browsing!! A red light in same spot will indicate awaiting danger. You can also read the report on the site. If a site that you know to be trustworthy gets the red light you can click “Add to safe sites” and give it the green light. Plus your search results gets evaluated on safety too.
